The river that runs through Marktschellenberg is the
Berchtesgadener Ache, which has its headwaters high in the Bavarian Alps.

My photographs don't really do the river justice, but if you're wondering about the creamy colour of the water it is all down to the glacial nature of the water source and the natural salts being washed down from the mountains.

And in case you're wondering about the water temperature, it was still icy cold in June when I was visiting the area.
